Food and housing help

We offer various emergency food help – through our food bank and  collective kitchens  – and our partner Action Housing has a worker to help residents with housing needs.

Community House

Our Community House (located at 145 Beausoleil Drive) provides educational, recreational and social programs that meet the needs of the residents of Lowertown East. The Community House also offers a physical space for residents that facilitates the identification of community needs, encourages the social integration of its members and promotes harmony and greater community participation.

Catchment area:

Boundaries for the Community House services: St Patrick Street (North) to Rideau Street (South) and Vanier Parkway (East) to King Edward Street (West).

Boundaries for the Food Distribution Program: same as for all other services plus the By Ward Market area from Boteler Street (North) to George Street (South) and King Edward Street (East) to Sussex Parkway (West).

Food Distribution/Food Bank
We offer emergency food supplies (full once a month, based on availability) to Lowertown residents (see boundaries/catchment area above). Please call (613) 789-3930 to make your appointment.

Tuesday 1 PM-5:45 PM

Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM & 1 PM to 3:45 PM

Thursday from 9:30 AM-noon

Millennium Learning Centre
Free access to computers, printer, photocopier and the Internet. Monday through Fridays 9-noon (closed for lunch) and again from 1-4 PM.

Emergency access to Kitchen and Laundry Room
Available to Lowertown Residents and families staying at a local Emergency hotel shelter. Call us (613) 789-3930 for additional information and availability.

Action Housing

The agency assists, supports and advocates for disadvantaged individuals and families to find safe, adequate and affordable housing. Issues such as housing emergencies, evictions, discrimination, maintenance and repairs, and illegal rents can be addressed by a housing caseworker.
