Since 1970, the CRCBV has been providing a range of social and community services to individuals and families living in Lowertown East and West. ur service area is delimited by: Sussex Drive (west) to St. Patrick Street (north) to the Rideau River (east) to Rideau Street (south). We provide a helping hand, when needed, to all members of our community.

Representatives from six organizations
(Catholic Family Service, Children's Aid
Society, Public Health, the Ontario Ministry of
Community and Social Services, and the
Ottawa-Carleton Municipal Department of
Social Services under the auspices of the
Social Planning Council) meet to plan
improvements to services in the Lowertown
area in response to “urban redevelopment”
affecting the neighbourhood. The idea of
creating community health and resource
centres is born.
The very first Community Resource Centre
office opens on St. Andrew Street. It is
managed by the City.
The LCRC moves to Chapel Street.
The LCRC begins to become independent from
the municipality: a management committee is
established.
