Program details

School year 2025-2026

The Lowertown After-School Program, formerly known as Club 310, is offered free of charge by the Lowertown Community Resource Centre (LCRC), now in partnership with the City of Ottawa.

It aims to provide children aged 6 to 12 with a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment after school.

At the LCRC’s after-school program, children take part in a variety of activities and are supervised by a caring team of bilingual educators and facilitators in a safe environment. We focus on physical activity and mental and social well-being. We also provide a healthy snack every day.

Eligibility and criteria

Our after-school program is free and open to youth who live in Lowertown, with priority given to low-income families.

Valid proof of address and proof of family income are required to ensure that our services primarily meet the needs of local families. Families must therefore meet the following two criteria:

  • Be a resident of Lowertown (proof of address required). Check our service area here
  • Have a family income below the eligible income threshold according to the LICO table (proof of income required).

N.B. If there are unfilled spaces, they will be made available to Lowertown children from families who do not meet the income criteria.

Registration process

Registration opens on August 21. To streamline the process, online registration will be done in three (3) steps:

  1. Pre-registration: online registration (limited places, waiting list possible).
  1. Submission of documents: proof of address and income to be sent to the team at programmesjeunesse@crcbv.ca
  2. Confirmation: official validation by our team and allocation of places
Important information to note

Residents who are not eligible for this free program (i.e. those who do not meet the income criteria or who live in a neighbourhood other than the Lowertown) can try to register through the City of Ottawa at the following link: Registration Ottawa City

ELIGIBILITY

Our after-school program is free and open to youth in the Lower Main Street area, with priority given to low-income families. This selection process allows us to respond first to the needs of the most vulnerable families.

See frequently asked questions here

What are the eligibility criteria?

You must reside in Lowertown (see our service area) and be a low-income family (you will need to provide the necessary proof.)

How much do the services cost?

The after-school program, like all other services at the Center, is completely free for all participants.

What are your operating hours?

The program runs from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Pickup time is between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM.

Who takes care of transportation? How will my child get from their school to the program?

After registration with us, you will need to contact the school administration and inform them that the child is now part of our program. They know us and will direct the child to the necessary bus that will drop them off directly at the program. It will be up to them to give you the date the child can start.

Does my child need to be bilingual (English and French) to be eligible?

No, they can speak either of our two languages used in the program.

My child just arrived in Canada and does not speak either English or French, will he/she be accepted?

Yes, as long as the child feels comfortable. He/she will learn one of our languages gradually.

Are you open on (professional development) PD days?

Since we receive children from different school boards, we normally operate during PD days and are ready to receive children during regular hours.

In case of a snowstorm, is the program open?

No! In the event of a snowstorm and closure declared by the school boards, for safety reasons, we will remain closed.

Can you give my child their medication?

No, we cannot give any prescribed or non-prescribed medication to a child.
