Who we are

Since 1970, the LCRC has been offering a range of social and community services to individuals and families residing in Lowertown. The LCRC is a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors whose members are elected by Lowertown residents.
The LCRC is part of a coalition of 13 community resource and health centres which serve the Ottawa area. To find out which one covers your area of the city, visit the Web site of the Coalition of Community Health and Resource Centres.

Programs & Services

All our services are free and bilingual

Early Years Program at the LCRC
At the LCRC we offer a range of services and supports for parents, guardians, caregivers, pregnant mothers, babies, toddlers and children. All our services are free and provided in both official languages.

At the LCRC we have many programs for youth run by qualified staff who offer a safe, welcoming and healthy environment for Lowertown kids. Every program is free and serves healthy snacks, helps with homework and runs fun physical activities for the youth after school.

The Multicultural Program facilitates the integration of people from various ethnic backgrounds who are new to Canada through services and activities such as counseling, drop-in and excercise groups.

We offer various emergency food help – through collective kitchens and food distribution – and our partner Action Housing has a worker on-site Wednesday through Friday to help residents with housing needs.

“In 2015, I very badly needed help with my kids. I had been sick and had stayed home with my kids for the past 6 years. I was looking for help and went to seven places, not finding anyone who would help me. I went to the Lowertown Community Resource Centre where I found Marie-Christine at the front desk. After explaining my situation, she said‘Youcame to the right place, we will help you’.
